The first picture in the slideshow above (of the abstract sculpture) won third place in the Washington State High School Photography Contest! It was shot in color film at the Boston Museum of Fine Art. Several high schools within the state submitted to this contest, so I feel very lucky to have placed. The contest will be having a showcase of the winners on Thursday, June 4th from 7-9 PM at Museum Quality Framing, and wanted me to encourage my peers to attend (so, here’s my endorsement!).
Attached are 9 of my favorite pictures. Some of them are shot in film and a couple digitally.
My pictures are based on my shallow desire to capture all of the beautiful things around me and carry them in my pocket. I want to keep feeling that bed that I slept on, I want to continue tasting the strawberries, and I want to remember that person. I take pictures to archive all of the good things I’ve experienced, and one day I hope to expand my repertoire to things that matter. You can’t dispute pictures, especially when they’re shot in film. I want to share this concrete yet creative medium with lots of people!
