I want to feel what I do not hear

I envy all who miss the silence

I wish I knew when you were near

Those footsteps, that airplane, the wind and her cheer

I cannot walk in darkness without your guidance

I want to feel what I do not hear

Listen for my laughter when I am here

Touch my mouth, form an alliance

I wish I knew when you were near  

Frustrated but no, not one tear

If only you knew my quiet defiance

I want to feel what I do not hear

Each spoken word is what I fear

Your lips, I trust, are my desperate reliance

I wish I knew when you were near

Search for the sounds my dear

The world is hiding in its subsidence

I want to feel what I do not hear
